R.A. Smith National, Inc. has opportunities available in our Construction Services Division for a Project Engineer and a Construction Project Manager for our Appleton location. The Construction Project Manager must have a degree in civil engineering along with 6 to 12 years experience. Project Engineer applicants should have an engineering degree or equivalent with 0 to 4 years experience. Experience working on Wisconsin DOT construction projects is a plus for both positions. TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER - PITTSBURGH, PA
R. A. Smith National, Inc. has an opportunity available for an experienced Transportation Engineer to Manage the Transportation Services area for the company’s Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania location. Duties will include:
- The development of the Transportation Services Group
- Management of the Transportation Group and related activities
- Directs and oversees budgeting for the Group and controlling expenditures
- Ensures projects are completed on schedule and within budget
- Monitors and assures compliance with Quality Control procedures
- Responsible for developing and balancing staff
- Responsible for the mentoring of staff
- Identifying and providing professional development for staff members
- Conducting annual performance reviews.
- Develops and implements improvements and procedures that will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of staff
- Leading the marketing efforts for the group which include scoping projects, writing proposals, participating in interviews and maintaining client contact.
- Negotiation of contracts and agreements with clients
The person selected for this position will have a degree in Civil Engineering along with a minimum of 8 years experience in civil engineering and 5 years at a managerial level; a thorough understanding of the PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike facilities development process; a Pennsylvania Professional Engineering registration and a through working knowledge of transportation highway design and construction processes; and a working knowledge of structures, traffic signals, lighting, drainage, construction, utilities and environmental documentation.
