Chris Bratty and Reid Kunishige Join R.A. Smith National's Orange County, Calif. Office

Chris BrattyBROOKFIELD, Wis. — Chris Bratty and Reid Kunishige have joined the Orange County (Los Angeles), California office of R.A. Smith National — a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm headquartered in Brookfield, Wis. R.A. Smith National opened an office at 1965 North Main Street, Orange, Calif. on May 2, 2011.

Bratty is the western regional manager with more than 25 years of experience in land development involving retail, commercial, industrial and residential projects. His technical expertise includes site planning, entitlement and regulatory processing, master infrastructure and utility studies, project feasibility reports, construction administration and cost estimating. His experience is extensive in regional malls, urban lifestyle centers, national retailers, restaurants and big box developments. Kunishige is a civil engineering technician with more than 16 years of experience in retail, commercial, institutional and residential development projects.

Prior to joining R.A. Smith National, Bratty and Kunishige provided services to a variety of clients on projects that included Fashion Outlet of Las Vegas, Bella Terra Mall, Ontario Mills Mall, Shops at Mission Viejo, Brea Mall, Costco, Walmart, Kohl’s, Target, Krispy Kreme, Whole Foods Market, Fresh & Easy, America’s Tire Company, BP Arco, Wachovia Bank, McDonald’s, California Pizza Kitchen, Red Robin, Nordstrom and Macy’s.

R.A. Smith National’s Orange County office provides services that include site planning and entitlements, site feasibility studies, civil engineering, construction engineering, and landscape architectural and irrigation design.

Reid KunishigeR.A. Smith National’s corporate headquarters in Brookfield, Wis. has a long history of providing site engineering for a variety of projects in the western United States with an emphasis on retail/commercial development. The firm has a specialty in regional shopping malls and has provided site engineering for more than 100 shopping malls nationwide.

Smith National has provided services for The Block at Orange (Orange, Calif.), Santa Monica Place (Santa Monica, Calif.), Westfield Culver City (Culver City, Calif.), San Diego Mills (San Diego, Calif.), Arizona Mills Mall (Tempe, Ariz.), Lake Pleasant Crossing (Peoria, Ariz.), South Mountain Crossing (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Colorado Mills (Lakewood, Colo.).

R.A. Smith National Opens Orange County, California Office

BROOKFIELD, Wis. – R.A. Smith National – a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm, headquartered in Brookfield, Wis., is opening an Orange County (Los Angeles) office on May 2, 2011. The offices are located at 1965 North Main Street in the city of Orange.

Richard Smith, president, said, “The western United States has continued to experience significant growth. We are excited about opening an Orange County office to better serve our western clients, as well as to take advantage of emerging opportunities as the economy rebounds.” Smith added, “Orange County is in the greater Los Angeles area and is positioned well to serve populous southern California.”

Although R.A. Smith National serves both public and private sector clients, the Orange County office’s market emphasis is working with a variety of private-sector clients, including local and national developers, real estate professionals, architects, attorneys and corporations, among others. Services provided include site planning and entitlement, site feasibility studies, civil engineering, construction engineering, landscape architectural design and irrigation services.

R.A. Smith National has provided site engineering and related services for various projects in the western United States. R.A. Smith National is currently working with Simon Property Group, developer, to provide site design, traffic engineering, landscape architectural design, irrigation design, permitting and construction coordination for the redevelopment of the south end of The Block at Orange shopping mall in Orange, California. Unique elements of the Block at Orange project include the innovative design of a rainwater collection and irrigation system and a new roundabout that will be part of The Block Way public street improvements. R.A. Smith National also recently provided site engineering to Macerich Company for the award-winning Santa Monica Place – a 550,000-square-foot, open-air entertainment and dining destination in Santa Monica, California.

In addition to site engineering, surveying and landscape architectural design services, R.A. Smith National’s western clients will benefit from additional services provided by the company’s Brookfield, Wis. operations, including transportation design, traffic engineering, laser scanning, 3D visualization, ecological services, water resource engineering, construction services and geographic information systems (GIS).

R.A. Smith National has an extensive history in the land development industry. The company was founded in 1978 and in 1994 acquired National Survey & Engineering, established in 1929. The firm’s collective experience dates back 82 years and includes more than 100 shopping center projects nationwide, hundreds of retail and residential developments, projects for numerous Fortune 500 corporations and others.
