Diego Silva Joins R.A. Smith National's Appleton Office as a Civil Engineer in the Transportation Division

Diego SilvaAPPLETON, Wis. — R.A. Smith National – a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm – Appleton, Wis., has added Diego Silva as a civil engineer in the transportation division.

Silva has more than three years of experience in transportation and utility design, surveying and construction services for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and local government. At R.A. Smith National, Silva will be responsible for data analysis, report writing, highway design, drainage design, construction cost estimates, environmental documentation, and plan preparation.

Silva has gained diverse experience in the civil engineering and surveying industries prior to recently earning his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Marquette University. He previously worked for R.A. Smith National as a survey technician; as a civil engineer co-op student for the City of West Allis and as a design engineer for a local consultant. Most recently, Silva was employed with A.W. Oakes and Son in Racine as a project engineer.

Silva is a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He lives in Appleton, Wis.

John Harrocks Joins R.A. Smith National's Tarentum (Pittsburgh) Office as Survey Technician

John HarrocksTARENTUM, Pa. — John Harrocks has joined the Tarentum (Pittsburgh) office of R.A. Smith National — civil engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, geographic information systems (GIS) and 3D visualization consultants — as a survey technician.

Harrocks has more than eight years of experience as a survey technician and survey crew chief, completing ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys; boundary surveys; topographic surveys; residential, commercial and federal highway surveys; construction staking; and platting and staking of gas and oil wells.

Harrocks has a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and geography from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. He lives in Aspinwall, Pennsylvania.
