R.A. Smith National’s John Bruggeman Wins Scholarship for Annual ITE Conference

John Bruggeman, transportation engineer at R.A. Smith National – a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm – Brookfield, Wis., has received a $1,000 scholarship to attend the annual Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) conference. Bruggeman, the current ITE Wisconsin Section president, was awarded the scholarship based on his application, essay and professional resume.

Bruggeman is excited to receive this scholarship and attend this highly acclaimed conference. The ITE conference, which focuses on sharing information and ideas about transportation issues, will be held on August 12-15, 2012 in Atlanta, Ga.

Bruggeman joined R.A. Smith National in 2004 as a transportation engineer. He is a registered professional engineer (P.E.) in Wisconsin and a professional traffic operations engineer (PTOE). Bruggeman’s most notable experience is traffic impact studies and traffic signal design.  His primary responsibilities include traffic analysis and modeling, traffic signal design and plan development, traffic signal timing, cost estimating, data collection, traffic forecasting and quality control.

Bruggeman lives in Glendale, Wis.

 

Matthew Buska Receives Wisconsin Professional Engineer Registration

Matthew Buska, engineer in the construction services division of R.A. Smith National – a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm – Brookfield, Wis., has obtained his Wisconsin professional engineer registration.

Buska has more than four years of experience in construction engineering, structural design and project management. His project design experience includes the installation, widening, reconstruction and redecking of bridges. Buska’s recent design work includes a two-span, prestressed girder over I-39 on CTH I, Dane County; four, two-span bridges for the I-94 and STH 50 Interchange, Racine and Kenosha Counties; two, single-span prestressed girder bridges over Spring Brook on STH 83; and two, single-span prestressed girder bridges over Genesee Creek on STH 59, Waukesha County.

Buska has two undergraduate degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with majors in business administration and civil engineering. He is a resident of Waukesha, Wis.
