R.A. Smith National Sponsors Childhood Cancer Fundraiser

by Jessica Pairrett 14. July 2016 06:39

R.A. Smith National was a sponsor of the 6th Annual Christopher Shoot.

The 6th Annual Christopher's Shoot Against Childhood Cancer was recently held by the Schraufnagel family. The event was inspired by and continues to honor their son, who fought a battle against medulloblastoma.

With the hope of finding a cure, this event offers a day of fun and a silent auction, with proceeds from the event benefiting the MACC Fund. Learn more about the event and the MACC Fund here. R.A. Smith National is proud to be a sponsor of the event.

Are You Overlooking Site Analysis?

Tribal Business Journal May 2016

In the May 2016 issue of the “Tribal Business Journal,” Tom Mortensen wrote about site analysis and master planning, and how important these two aspects are during land development. Mortensen, R.A. Smith National site planner and landscape architect, notes that during site planning, the entire design team should understand the site’s relationship to the land. Taking a collaborative, integrated approach to design in early site analysis stages adds value to projects and their respective communities, as Mortensen illustrates for:

  • Lac du Flambeau and the tribe’s community-based residential facility.
  • Forest County Potawatomi and their repurposed urban college campus.
  • Stockbridge-Munsee and a residential development for single-family, elderly and multi-family housing.
  • Aztalan State Park, once home to an ancient Middle Mississippian village between A.D. 1000 and 1300.
