Stephan Hoffmann Serves as Institute of Transportation Engineers WI Section President

Stephan Hoffmann, director of transportation at R.A. Smith National — a nationwide, multi-disciplined civil and structural engineering and surveying firm — headquartered in Brookfield, Wis., is serving as the 2016 president for the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Wisconsin Section.

Hoffmann is excited to be leading the ITE Wisconsin Section, of which he has been a long-time member and also an executive board member. The ITE Wisconsin Section is part of ITE International, which provides resources and programs to transportation professionals in order to increase advancement and knowledge of the profession. The Wisconsin Section has about 300 members.

Hoffmann joined R.A. Smith National in 2006 and was named director of the transportation division in 2014. He has more than 22 years of project management and design experience, including rural and urban roadway reconstruction and rehabilitation, drainage analysis, utility coordination, public involvement and environmental documentation. Hoffmann is a licensed professional engineer in Wisconsin.

John Bruggeman Attains California Traffic Engineer License

John Bruggeman, P.E., PTOE, traffic engineer and project manager, has attained his California Traffic Engineer license.  This license is needed to use the title of “traffic engineer” while working on projects in California and is a requirement to perform traffic studies for several municipalities throughout the state.

Bruggeman has 12 years of traffic engineering experience, specializing in traffic operations and traffic signal design.  Bruggeman has completed numerous traffic impacts studies, including his most recent project for the At Mateo Retail & Office Development in Los Angeles.  His signal design experience includes over 100 traffic signal designs over the past seven years.  Bruggeman is experienced in the use of Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS and SIDRA software. 

In addition to his California Traffic Engineer license, Bruggeman holds a Professional Engineer license in Wisconsin and is a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE).  Bruggeman is an active member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
