Kenneth Crawford joins R.A. Smith National’s Pittsburgh Office as Project Manager

Kenneth Crawford has joined the Pittsburgh office of R.A. Smith National  — civil engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, geographic information systems (GIS), visualization and 3D laser scanning consultants — Tarentum (Pittsburgh), Pa., as an engineering project manager with a focus on commercial, municipal and federal projects. 

Crawford has more than 30 years of experience in project management, civil and environmental engineering, surveying and 3D laser scanning. He specializes in leading multi-disciplinary project teams involving sanitary sewer collection and pumping systems, route alignment planning, site development, GIS mapping, automated GIS processing and analysis, end-user systems training, 3D laser scanning and the preparation of project reports and operations manuals. 

Crawford has a bachelor of science in civil engineering with a certificate in surveying from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He is registered as a professional engineer in Pennsylvania and a quality construction manager with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

R.A. Smith National, Inc. Expands Structural Services Division

R.A. Smith National, Inc. – a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm – Brookfield, Wis., has expanded its structural services division. On Friday, August 22, R.A. Smith National, Inc. purchased selected assets of the structural engineering practice of Arnold & O’Sheridan (A&O), Inc. from a secured lender. 

R.A. Smith National has expanded its structural services to include structural design of facilities and parking structures in health care, higher education, justice and security, corporate, commercial and civic markets. These services will complement the firm’s existing capabilities in public infrastructure (bridges, wastewater treatment facilities, retaining walls and other), as well as structural health monitoring. 

As a result of this transaction, the firm has hired the 11 individuals from A&O’s structural group, bringing the division total to 13. R.A. Smith National’s structural manager, Scott Ginal, P.E., S.E., has been promoted to director of structural services. Scott will lead the expanded structural services division.

Established in 1964, Arnold & O’Sheridan, Inc. operated as a multi-discipline, consulting engineering firm that served the public and private sectors. Some of their project experience includes Wheaton Franciscan Ambulatory Care Center and Hospital, St. John’s on the Lake; Microbial Sciences Building, University of Wisconsin Madison; Camp Randall; Third Ward Parking Ramp; Elkhart County Justice Complex; and others.
