R.A. Smith National Adds Surveying & Engineering Talent to Oakmont Office

Project surveyor and civil engineer join firm’s eastern regional office

Project surveyor John Woodworth has joined the survey division of R.A. Smith National’s Oakmont office. Additionally, Jason Boley has joined the firm as a civil engineer in the land development services division.

John Woodworth

John Woodworth has more than 15 years of surveying experience, serving as crew chief on a wide range of surveying projects for the oil and gas industries, public lands systems and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He also has a heavy focus on metes and bounds (or boundary) surveys, topographic surveys and construction staking.

Woodworth holds his Professional Land Surveyors (PLS) license in the state of Pennsylvania. In addition, Woodworth holds dual associate degrees in surveying technologies and civil engineering from Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Jason Boley

Jason Boley has more than four years of civil engineering experience. Most recently, his project engineer experience included all aspects of land development, such as site reconnaissance, site layout, grading design, stormwater management, permitting and more.

Boley holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering technology from Bluefield State College. He also holds an associate’s degree in drafting and design from Southwest Virginia Community College.

Chapman to Present at Public Works Expo

Jon Chapman, 3D laser scanning manager of R.A. Smith National, will present at APWA’s PWX 2016 on Tuesday, August 30. Chapman’s presentation, “Big Bang for the Buck: Laser Scanning Values in Public Works Infrastructure,” will take a look at advances in survey technology and its opportunities in the public works sector. He will discuss the many benefits that LiDAR, or laser scanning technology for data collection, has for the public works engineering professional.
