R.A. Smith National Attends Wetland Delineation Workshop

Heather Patti, PWS, ecologist/project manager, Tina Myers, PWS, ecologist/project manager, Theran Stautz, ecologist/project manager, and Nancy Wilson, RLA, landscape architect, are attending the Critical Methods in Wetland Delineation workshop in Madison.

The informative workshop will cover topics such as wetland and waterway permitting updates, wetland mitigation updates, the in-lieu fee program in Wisconsin, updated guidance for delineating wetlands in Wisconsin and much more.

The workshop is offered by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

R.A. Smith National’s Ecological Division Grows

R.A. Smith National – a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm – Brookfield, Wis., has hired Mishal Al-wathiqui as an intern in the ecological division. He will work with Heather Patti and Tina Myers, ecologists and professional wetland scientists, to complete wetland delineation, invasive species control and natural area assessment projects.

Al-wathiqui has two bachelor of science degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), the first in biology and second in conservation and environmental sciences. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in freshwater sciences and technology at UWM. Al-wathiqui previously worked at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as a wildlife technician, Wisconsin Department of Health Services as a harmful algal blooms surveillance intern, Milwaukee River Greenway Coalition as an ecological restoration intern and at the City of Milwaukee as an urban forestry intern.
