The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) will provide 50% cost reimbursement for green infrastructure projects within its service area that help store, convey and use rainwater in more natural ways (porous pavement, bioswales, cisterns and more). Applications will be accepted from building owners, municipalities and developers. Up to $700,000 will be awarded annually. Eligible expenses include materials, construction costs and education/outreach materials. Applications are due March 15. Please contact Jeff Mazanec for more information.

Benjie Hayek has joined the Brookfield office of R.A. Smith National — civil engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, geographic information systems (GIS), visualization and 3D laser scanning consultants — as a construction services project leader. Hayek has more than 24 years of experience in road building construction on projects for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and local government with a focus on new construction and resurfacing projects throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.
Hayek’s expertise includes construction management, oversight of contract and plan accuracy, in-field assessments, team meeting coordination, project documentation, quality control, environmental permit coordination, safety compliance, heavy equipment operations, public relations and business development.
Prior to joining R.A. Smith National, Hayek was employed as a project engineer with Walsh Construction, general contractor, and has previous experience with Payne & Dolan, contractor, Waukesha.
Hayek has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in transportation and construction management from Marquette University.
Hayek currently resides in Mayville, Wis.
