TARENTUM, Pa. — John Harrocks has joined the Tarentum (Pittsburgh) office of R.A. Smith National — civil engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, geographic information systems (GIS) and 3D visualization consultants — as a survey technician.
Harrocks has more than eight years of experience as a survey technician and survey crew chief, completing ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys; boundary surveys; topographic surveys; residential, commercial and federal highway surveys; construction staking; and platting and staking of gas and oil wells.
Harrocks has a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and geography from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. He lives in Aspinwall, Pennsylvania.

BROOKFIELD, Wis. — Melissa Case, controller, of R.A. Smith National – a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm – Brookfield, Wis., has been selected as a winner in The Business Journal’s annual “CFO of the Year” awards competition. Case was chosen as one of 16 Milwaukee-area chief financial officers or heads of finance who are making a difference within their organization or profession. Case will be recognized at an awards luncheon at the Pfister Hotel on Friday, October 7, 2011.
Case joined R.A. Smith National in November 2000. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration. Case is a certified public accountant (CPA). She lives in Hartland.
