R.A. Smith National’s Paul Arend Participates in the 2013 ACEC Wisconsin Future Leaders Institute

Paul Arend, P.E. of R.A. Smith National  — a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm — Brookfield, Wis., has begun his journey through the American Council of Civil Engineering Companies (ACEC) Wisconsin’s 2013 Future Leaders Institute Program that runs from September 2012 through April 2013. 

Arend, a senior project engineer in R.A. Smith National’s Municipal Division, was selected to be part of the Future Leaders Institute based on his past experience, his current work duties and his future potential. This course is for “up and coming” engineers, architects, planners, surveyors, historians, business development and marketing professionals to develop and hone their leadership skills. Participants in the program partake in sessions such as work/life balance, how to run a business and risk management.

Arend currently resides in Franklin, Wis.

R.A. Smith National’s Nancy Parduhn Wilson has Obtained Her Professional Registration as a Registered Landscape Architect

Nancy Parduhn Wilson, landscape designer at R.A. Smith National – a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm – Brookfield, Wis., has fulfilled the education, work experience and examination requirements to obtain her Registered Landscape Architect professional registration. 

Wilson has more than 24 years of experience in the landscape industry. Her expertise includes landscape design, horticulture, soil and water conservation practices and conservation planning/design/layout. She is also experienced with wetland delineation and the parameters that contribute to water runoff and infiltration and has applied that knowledge to municipal, residential and commercial projects.

Wilson has a bachelor’s degree in agronomy from Oklahoma State University and two associate’s degrees, one in landscape horticulture from Milwaukee Area Technical College and the other in conservation technology from Fox Valley Technical College. Wilson has continued her education with wetland delineation, plant ID and hydric soil ID workshops at UW-La Crosse Continuing Education and Extension and course work in GIS at UW-Milwaukee.

Wilson currently resides in Waukesha, Wis.
