R.A. Smith National’s Steve Miazga Will Co-Chair the 2012 ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) CenterBuild Conference

Steve Miazga, business development manager, of R.A. Smith National – a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm – Brookfield, Wis., will serve as co-chair for the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) 2012 CenterBuild Conference. The 2012 conference will be held November 28-30 in Phoenix. Miazga has served on the CenterBuild Program Planning Committee since 2003 and has previously served in leadership roles at the sub-committee level for the conference.

As business development manager at R.A. Smith National, Miazga’s responsibilities include corporate business development planning and implementation, strategic alliances and new markets development in the public and private sectors. Miazga’s expertise includes pre-development planning for major land development projects across the country, infrastructure design and assisting clients with land development issues.

Miazga has a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering with an emphasis on transportation and land development planning from University of Wisconsin-Madison. He lives in Pewaukee, Wis.

Jim Clements Joins R.A. Smith National as Construction Engineer

R.A. Smith National – a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm – Brookfield, Wis., has added Jim Clements as construction engineer.

Clements has more than 10 years experience as a project manager/project engineer and more than 20 years experience in the construction industry.  He has served as a construction project manager and structures inspector on highway projects and bridge rehabilitation and replacement projects for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT). He has worked in several states during the past 20 years in both hard-bid and design-build projects that range from local municipal projects to Mega DOT projects.

As a construction engineer at R.A. Smith National, Clements’ responsibilities include project management; safety; quality control; supervising team members and coordinating the work efforts of subcontractors; review of project plans, reports and documentation; scheduling; reviewing bid proposals and awarding contracts; preparing budgets; and controlling expenses.

Clements’ previous experience includes working for a prominent Wisconsin contractor as a project manager before transitioning to the consulting industry and working as a lead structures engineer for a consulting firm. He has a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering from Southern Illinois University.

Clements resides in Port Washington, Wis.
