Pat Hawley, P.E., PTOE, transportation senior project manager of R.A. Smith National, presented at the recent American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Wisconsin’s 2017 Transportation Improvement Conference. Hawley discussed reasonable access, an assessment of legal issues associated with driveway impacts along public roadways. During the presentation, conference attendees were provided with an overview of a property owner’s rights and WisDOT’s legal rights. Additionally, several examples of court rulings related to driveway impacts in Wisconsin were shown. Mike Roach, WisDOT statewide access management coordinator, co-presented.

Raasch to Present at Watershed Conference

Gary Raasch, P.E., CFM, senior water resources project manager of R.A. Smith National, is presenting at the 2017 Watershed Conference. Raasch will present “Engineers Without Borders (EWB)–USA: Guatemala,” which will provide conference attendees a look at the volunteer organization Engineers Without Borders–USA. They’ll also learn about student-led bridge design projects that occurred while volunteers were abroad in Guatemala and have a look at those reinforced concrete bridge construction projects that came together without the heavy equipment we take for granted in the United States. Andrew Mackensen, a student at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, is a co-presenter.
