R.A. Smith National’s Ecological Division Grows

R.A. Smith National – a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm – Brookfield, Wis., has hired Mishal Al-wathiqui as an intern in the ecological division. He will work with Heather Patti and Tina Myers, ecologists and professional wetland scientists, to complete wetland delineation, invasive species control and natural area assessment projects.

Al-wathiqui has two bachelor of science degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), the first in biology and second in conservation and environmental sciences. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in freshwater sciences and technology at UWM. Al-wathiqui previously worked at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources as a wildlife technician, Wisconsin Department of Health Services as a harmful algal blooms surveillance intern, Milwaukee River Greenway Coalition as an ecological restoration intern and at the City of Milwaukee as an urban forestry intern.

Dave Cleary Joins R.A. Smith National as Senior Project Manager

Dave Cleary has joined R.A. Smith National – a multi-disciplined civil engineering and surveying firm – Brookfield, Wis., as senior project manager in the land development division. 

Cleary brings more than 22 years of diverse civil engineering design, real estate development and construction experience. He has managed complex, multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of public and private sector projects throughout the Midwest and nationwide. He has extensive experience working in markets such as health care, senior living, commercial, retail, federal, environmental permitting, water resources engineering, aquatic organism passage design and others. Prior to joining R.A. Smith National, Cleary held positions ranging from senior project manager to director of development at local consulting firms, as well as the director of site development at Kohl’s Department Stores. 

Cleary has a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. He is a registered professional engineer in Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota and Michigan.
