R.A. Smith National Plans GIS Courses, September-November 2008
BROOKFIELD, WIS. – R.A.Smith National (formerly R.A. Smith & Associates and its National Survey & Engineering Division) — civil engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture, GIS and 3D visualization consultants — Brookfield, Wis., is accepting registrations for the following upcoming ESRI-authorized geographic information systems (GIS) courses.
Introduction to ArcGIS Server
When: September 25-26, 2008
Where: R.A. Smith National’s learning center, 16745 West Bluemound Road, Brookfield, Wisconsin
Instructor: ESRI Staff
This course introduces ArcGIS Server and teaches how to install, configure, and use the product as administrators and consumers of GIS services. Students learn how to publish maps, globes, and geoprocessing models that are optimized for performance. Students also create out-of-the-box Web applications using Manager and learn how to use GIS services in both Web applications and ArcGIS Explorer.
ArcGIS Desktop II: Tools and Functionality
When: October 20-22
Where: R.A. Smith National’s learning center, 16745 West Bluemound Road, Brookfield, Wisconsin

This course teaches the range of functionality available in the software and the essential tools for visualizing, creating, managing, and analyzing geographic data. The hands-on course exercises emphasize practice with ArcMap and ArcCatalog (the primary applications included with ArcGIS Desktop software) to perform common GIS tasks and workflows.
ArcGIS Desktop III: GIS Workflows and Analysis
When: October 23-24
Where: R.A. Smith National’s learning center, 16745 West Bluemound Road, Brookfield, Wisconsin

This course shows how to apply ArcGIS tools in a workflow context with a focus on working with data stored in a geodatabase and performing geoprocessing and analysis.
ArcGIS Server: Web Administration Using the Microsoft .Net Framework
When: November 5-7

To set up and successfully maintain a production ArcGIS Server implementation in which GIS content is authored, published, and shared across the enterprise or on the Web, organizations need effective strategies to ensure performance, security, and reliability. This course teaches those strategies.
Who Should Attend: The classes are open to any one who wants to use GIS as an effective tool for managing, analyzing and viewing relationships between tabular and spatial information. The classes benefit individuals employed in local government, land development, real estate, police/fire/emergency services, health care, education and others.
The training is part of the education component of R.A. Smith National’s SuccessGIS® program for successful GIS implementation.
