R.A. Smith National Provides Engineering Design Services for Hampton Avenue, Butler, Wis.
BROOKFIELD, WIS. – R.A.Smith National (formerly R.A. Smith & Associates and its National Survey & Engineering Division) — civil engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture, geographic information systems (GIS) and 3D visualization consultants — Brookfield, Wis., is providing engineering design services to the Village of Butler for an approximate .5-mile roadway rehabilitation.
Waukesha County and the Village of Butler received federal funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for the Hampton Avenue project. The total cost of the project is $1,087,000.
To provide a smooth ride into the future, dowel bars will be installed at the concrete pavement joints to tie together the slabs. The concrete will then be milled, improving the roadway’s irregular ride and alleviating safety concerns. An asphalt overlay will be placed over the concrete. The asphalt overlay will facilitate easier resurfacing in future years. The project also includes a traffic signal upgrade at the intersection of W. Hampton Avenue and N. 127th Street. Construction will take place in the spring/summer of 2010.
