McCandless Crossing
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Surveying and sitework engineering are being provided to Ad Venture Development, LLC (North Carolina) for a 1.2 million-square-foot mixed-use development on 130 acres. The development will include a significant retail presence, along with two hotels, a variety of residential units, office/medical office space, and entertainment components. The development is anticipated to create in excess of 2,100 new jobs. McCandless Crossing is located along McKnight Road, a significant retail corridor in Pittsburgh’s North Hills.

Woodman’s Food Market
Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin

Sitework engineering services were provided to Building Systems General Corp., Madison, for the development of a 33-acre site for a new 238,000-square foot Woodman’s Food Market, fuel station and two outlots. Services included civil site design, stormwater management, landscape architecture, off-site roadway improvements, traffic signals design, and the preparation of a topographic survey and ALTA/ACSM Land Title Survey.

Division of Motor Vehicles Service Center
Waukesha, Wisconsin

Surveying, sitework engineering, stormwater management, and landscape architectural design services are being provided to Architects Group Limited (AGL) for a new service center for the Wisconsin Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Wal-Mart
Muskego, Wisconsin

Sitework engineering, irrigation design, landscape architecture, traffic analysis and surveying services were provided for this new retail development.
Jackson Square
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Surveying services are being provided to Robert Joseph, developer, for an 84-unit apartment complex in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward.

Shopping Center ALTA Surveys
California, Texas, Florida

Nationwide survey coordination services were provided to Foley & Lardner LLP (Florida) for eight existing shopping center sites in California, Texas and Florida owned by a publicly traded REIT.

National Avenue/S. 76th Street/S. 68th Street
West Allis, Wisconsin

Design services were provided for roadway rehabilitation on portions of three urban roadways. The roadways are experiencing deteriorated concrete pavement and poor ride quality.

Hampton Avenue
Butler, Wisconsin

Engineering design services were provided to the Village of Butler for an approximate .5 mile roadway rehabilitation, including a traffic signal upgrade.

MillerCoors ALTA Survey
Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Surveying services are being provided to MillerCoors for four underground tunnels that connect facilities for its Milwaukee Brewery. In 2008 R.A. Smith National surveyed the entire MillerCoors property in Milwaukee.

Wisconsin Housing Preservation Corporation ALTA Surveys
Northwest Wisconsin

ALTA Surveys were prepared for 17 low-income housing properties located throughout Northwest Wisconsin.

The New Madison Children’s Museum Rooftop Garden
Madison, Wisconsin

Landscape architectural services were provided for the Madison Children’s Museum Rooftop Garden at its new location. A collaborative design approach was initiated with R.A. Smith National’s landscape architectural group, The Kubala Washatko Architects, the Madison Children’s Museum’s creative staff and a green roof system supplier. All of the plantings that have been chosen for the rooftop are native to Wisconsin and adaptable to an urban environment. An efficient drip irrigation system was designed for the specific areas and needs of the various plant types. R.A. Smith National also provided civil engineering and survey services for the (ground level) site.

Chippewa Nature Center
Midland, Michigan

Innovative and sustainable landscape architecture and site design services are being provided to The Kubala Washatko Architects for the new renovation and expansion of this nature center. The project includes a new nature preschool facility; a pond at the entrance that circulates rain water from the roof; an event space using permeable pavers; a reconfigured parking lot and bus drop-off area using recycled asphalt/aggregates; and a bio-infiltration area that will include native plant colonies that will help with the flow and treatment of parking lot runoff. The project team will be pursuing LEED® certification.

Courtyard by Marriott Hotel
Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Sitework engineering and surveying are being provided to GMF Hotel, LLC of Jacksonville, Illinois for this new four-story hotel at Layton Avenue and 5th Street near General Mitchell International Airport. Services provided include grading, paving, erosion control, stormwater management, landscape architectural design and parking lot design.

 

Hyatt Summerfield Suites Hotel
Brookfield, Wisconsin

Sitework engineering, landscape architectural design, and surveying services are being provided to Oxford Development Company, Pittsburgh, for a new 129-suite hotel. The scope of services for the $20 million extended-stay hotel includes grading, paving, erosion control, stormwater management, and parking lot design.

 

STH 241/27th Street Corridor Roundabouts
Milwaukee County, Wisconsin

Analysis, feasibility assessments, and conceptual design are being provided to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the possibility of 14 double- and triple-lane roundabouts along the 27th Street Corridor in the cities of Franklin and Oak Creek.

 

 

CTH Y Reconstruction
Waukesha County, Wisconsin

Construction management services are being provided to Waukesha County Department of Public Works for the reconstruction of CTH Y (Racine Avenue) in the city of New Berlin. The projects limit are I-43 on the south and CTH I (Lawnsdale Road) on the north. Racine Avenue will be reconstructed from a two-lane road to a four-lane road. The intersection of Racine Avenue and CTH ES (National Avenue) will be realigned with the installation of a bridge on National Avenue over Racine Avenue. A new roadway to connect Racine Avenue and National Avenue will be built approximately 500 feet north of the current intersection.

Aurora Medical Centers
Summit/Grafton, Wisconsin

Sitework engineering and surveying are being provided to Hammes Company, Brookfield and Albert Kahn Associates, Inc., Detroit. Construction staking and surveying services are being provided to Mortenson Construction for these new medical centers.

Wal-Mart Expansion
Green Bay/Bellevue, Wisconsin

Sitework engineering, traffic impact analysis, detention pond design, pedestrian access improvements, landscape architectural design and surveying services are being provided for an expansion to the Wal-Mart in the City of Green Bay and Village of Bellevue. R.A. Smith National is also coordinating the rezoning/municipal approval process.

Fox River Corridor Plan
Appleton, Wisconsin

A master plan will guide future redevelopment and open space uses along the river. The plan will identify potential redevelopment sites; recommend concepts for future reuse; and identify strategies to improve river access and trail connections through the river valley.

 

 

Hilltop Road Sanitary Sewer Extension
Germantown, Wisconsin

Design services and construction management services were provided for a 6,500-foot sanitary sewer extension and a 1.1-mile roadway improvement.

Cushing Park Road Bike Trail
Delafield, Wisconsin

The preliminary design is being completed for a 1.75-mile portion of a connector bike trail.

St. John’s Military Academy
Delafield, Wisconsin

Site design services including grading, a water system expansion and a new irrigation system are being provided for a parade field and a new baseball field. The academy’s overall master planning efforts include enhancing this 100-year old campus and its park-like setting.

PDQ Food Stores, Inc.
Wisconsin and Minnesota

Surveying services were provided to J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, N.A. from our Madison, Brookfield and Oshkosh offices for 20 PDQ Food Stores, Inc. sites throughout the state of Wisconsin. Survey coordination services were also provided for six sites in Minnesota through our Appleton office.

The Shoppes at Fox River
Waukesha, Wisconsin

Sitework engineering and surveying services are being provided to Opus North Corporation, developer, for this new 498,500-square-foot retail power center development. The project is the redevelopment of a former Supervalu distribution facility.

Marketplace on 22
Murrysville, Pennsylvania

Surveying and sitework engineering including grading, stormwater management, traffic analysis and parking lot design are being provided for a 114-acre upscale shopping center. The proposed development will include retail, home improvement, grocery stores, and possibly restaurants.

Limited Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Study
Wauwatosa, Wisconsin

Smoke testing and televising approximately 36,000 feet of sanitary sewer and flow monitoring 12 sub-basins to identify Infiltration and Inflow (I/I) problems contributing to sewage overflows from MMSD’s system into Honey Creek during rain events.

 

Meadowbrook Park
Village of Howard, WI

Site design services were provided for a new park shelter that consists of an open-air pavilion and adjoining indoor space for restrooms and general purposes. Services provided include surveying, siting of the building, parking lot design improvements, design of an entrance drive for drop-off purposes at the shelter, landscape architectural services, design of a vegetated biofiltration swale in the middle of the parking lot to treat stormwater; design of a rain garden to treat runoff from the shelter; and site lighting coordination with the Village and Wisconsin Public Service.

State Highway 100 (Mayfair Road)
Milwaukee County, WI
The planned resurfacing of 2.15 miles of Highway 100 includes the design of pavement repairs; spot curb and gutter replacement; rehabilitating and redecking the bridge over the Canadian Pacific Railroad; reconstruct­ing and lowering Mayfair Road between Walnut Street and North Avenue to provide additional vertical clearance to the USH 45 bridges; and traffic signal and intersection design improvements, where necessary, to enhance safety and capacity.

State Highway 50/I-94 Interchange
Kenosha County
, WI
Design services are being provided for the reconstruction of the Highway 50 interchange with I-94; two miles of I-94 from six to eight lanes; and one mile of Highway 50 from four to six lanes. The design includes a split diamond interchange configuration with relocated frontage roads. I-94 will be raised approximately 15 feet to provide a new overpass north of STH50, reducing traffic on STH 50 and improving access for developments east and west of I-94. R.A.Smith National’s transportation division has collaborated extensively with adjacent planned commercial developments, most notably the 163-acre Kenosha Town Center development from STH 158 south to 71st Street, which is being completed by R.A. Smith National’s land development services division.

Greenfield Highlands
City of Greenfield, WI

Three-dimensional renderings and animations were prepared for Ener-Con Companies, Inc. to gain project approval for a mixed-used development. The gated community development will consist of six single-family lots, 156 condominiums, a community building and pool. Commercial development includes offices, retail and restaurants. After municipal approval was granted, the animation was retrofitted with a custom narrative and musical accompaniment to assist the client with their sales and marketing efforts. Glacial Drumlin-Cambridge Connector Trail Implementation Plan
Village of Cambridge, WI
A feasibility/site analysis was completed to determine the best alternative route for a trail connecting the Village to the Glacial-Drumlin Trail. The project was coordinated with the Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation for the highway crossings and with the Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources for environmental impacts to wetlands and the Koshkonong Creek. The scope further included coordinating public participation, preparing cost estimates and researching funding alternatives. R.A. Smith National was a consultant for LanDesign to provide these services.

Southpointe Town Center
Cecil Township, PA
Civil engineering and surveying services are being provided for this 35-acre project and 22 acres of peripheral development. Scope of work includes surveying, site layout, grading, utility design, stormwater management, and erosion control. Design services are also being provided for offsite utility extensions and roadway design in support of the Town Center project. R.A. Smith National has been involved with other projects within Southpointe II including an office building and hotel.

STH 22
Shawano County, WI
Construction services are being provided to the North Central Region of the Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation for the $800,000 rehabilitation of Embarrass River Bridge and approaches. The new bridge will replace the existing overhead truss.

Target
Sun Prairie, WI

Sitework engineering and landscape architectural design services are being provided to Target for a new, approximately 130,000-square-foot retail store at the Prairie Lakes mixed-use development at County Highway C and US 151 in Sun Prairie, Wis. Construction layout services are being provided by R.A. Smith National’s Madison office to Ryan Companies US, Inc.

Surveying, site planning, sitework engineering, traffic analysis and landscape architectural services are also being provided to Prairie Development, LTD. for the entire 110-acre development. The scope of services includes construction plans for stormwater management, mass grading, existing roadway mprovements and two new public roads.

CVS Pharmacy
Middleton, WI
Construction layout services are being provided to KVG Building Corporation.

Mayfair Woods Business and Technology Center
Wauwatosa, WI

Surveying and civil engineering services were provided for this new business and technology center in Milwaukee County Research Park. The project team focused on preserving the site, ensuring large portions of the greenspace areas remain untouched. Stormwater runoff is managed and recovered in retention ponds on the property. Elements such as green space buffers, extensively wooded areas, activity trails, a pond and natural waterway are highlights of he property. The project was recently awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver certification for the Core & Shell of the building from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

One Scottsdale
Scottsdale, AZ
Construction staking and topographic mapping were provided for a large mixed-use project with luxury retail, fine dining, entertainment, offices, and residential space being developed by DMB Associates, Inc.

One Alma School Road Improvement Project
Salt River Pima & Maricopa Indian Community, AZ
Construction staking and existing site conditions video documentation are being provided for the widening and repaving of a 4.5-mile section of Alma School Road.
