CTH Y (Racine Ave.) over I-43 - Waukesha County, Wisconsin
The existing structure on CTH Y had deteriorated and no longer met the needs of the overpass. New roadway designs were created using roundabouts for exiting and entering the Interstate. This change significantly affected the structure over the interstate.
R.A. Smith National provided the design and plans for a re-deck and addition of laminated elastomeric bearings on CTH Y. The project significantly changed what the structures were used for as the structure is now part of the roundabout system. In addition to the re-deck, the structure also prepared the area for the future addition of a 16-foot, multi-use path.
