Milwaukee Art Museum - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Milwaukee Art Museum - Milwaukee, WisconsinR.A. Smith National provided surveying for the museum addition project spanning more than five years.

The complexity and uniqueness of this project, coupled with a high profile due to the international recognition that the architect, Santiago Calatrava, brought to it, presented special layout challenges to the entire R.A. Smith National crew.

The survey work involved the following tasks:

• a property boundary survey and topographic survey to facilitate site design

• mapping the East Mason Street/Lincoln Memorial Drive interior structure for future use as a potential parking structure

• various construction layout tasks including alignment and plumbness of the central mast and support cables, which will tower above the structure

• setting all of the survey control points used by the contractors during construction

• providing construction layout for the new pedestrian bridge spanning Lincoln Memorial Drive
