CTH L - Muskego, Wisconsin

CTH L - Muskego, Wisconsin Pre-construction utility coordination was provided for the reconstruction of this narrow, two-lane urban and rural roadway to a four-lane boulevard with a center turning lane.

The firm's construction services team coordinated the utility work on Highway L six months in advance of construction. This method allowed the firm's project engineer to track the utility work from permit application to the actual work being performed and how that work affects the project. The project engineer was also able to assist the utilities with alignment and elevations as needed, as well as tracking the individuals doing the work.

Throughout the project the firm's staff coordinated several changes that were necessary in the field including:

  • coordination of the new concrete walk to avoid conflict with existing headstones at an adjacent cemetery;
  • determination of the appropriate placement of the bypass around Tess Corner’s Creek, which was specified for realignment in the roadway plans;
  • removal and remediation of contaminated soils within the realignment area; and
  • determination of how to most effectively vegetate the new creek bed and tie the new portion of the creek into the existing part.

The firm also oversaw additional construction operations that included the following:

  • installation of more than 1,000 feet of modular block retaining walls to support the embankment;
  • a detention pond to control stormwater runoff from the new roadway; and
  • installation of colored stamped concrete at the intersections for aesthetic purposes.
