Village of Grafton Riverwalk - Grafton, Wisconsin

Village of Grafton Riverwalk - Grafton, WisconsinAs part of the downtown revitalization plan for Grafton, the master plan called for the development of a downtown riverwalk along the west shore of the Milwaukee River.

Based on input from the Village, initial concepts were produced along with perspective illustrations showing the potential design. Preliminary budgets were also compiled based on these concepts to affirm that the design was staying on track with the potential funding.

The riverwalk has “bump-out” areas and overlooks with brick paver inlay patterns, a limestone seat wall, benches, lamp posts with banners and new railings that tie into the existing bridge railing themes.

An overlook plaza was designed to enhance views to the waterfall. A handicap accessible ramp was designed to allow access to the riverwalk from Bridge Street.

Landscape plantings were added for seasonal color and interest, and native riparian species were used along the river bank to help stabilize the shoreline and improve the environment.
