Chippewa Nature Center - Midland, Michigan
Innovative and sustainable landscape architecture and site design services were provided to The Kubala Washatko Architects for the new renovation and expansion of this nature center.
The project includes a new nature preschool facility; a rain garden at the entrance that circulates rain water from the roof; an event space using permeable pavers; a reconfigured parking lot and bus drop-off area using recycled asphalt/aggregates; and a bio-infiltration area that will include native plant colonies that will help with the flow and treatment of parking lot runoff.
The project team is pursuing LEED® certification of the nature preschool.
