Sustainable Design/LEED®
PNC Bank
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
PNC Bank in Pittsburgh was the first retail branch office among U.S. banks to apply green building standards and become certified through the U.S. Green Building Council as a LEED® accredited project.
LEED principles were applied in the sitework engineering for the 1.5-acre site. To reduce the heat island effect, reflective concrete pavement was called for in the plans instead of asphalt. High capacity flow guard filters were installed in the catch basins to improve water quality. LEED credits were also earned with efficient erosion control and sedimentation control plans.
